The ASK team creates super-stylish and unique customizable bags

You can design your one-of-a-kind bag from a variety of pre-made elements. We’ve counted nearly 10,000 different combinations! Impressive, right?

We needed a flexible solution that would realistically showcase all possible bag options. The ideal solution turned out to be creating a builder where users could experiment, assemble different configurations, and choose the perfect one! The best part: seeing the final result before purchasing, ensuring that expectations and reality align perfectly. The idea of the builder excited us so much that we immediately got to work. We started by developing a prototype and technical specification to understand how everything should work. It turned out that, in addition to a multitude of options, the builder also had many conditions, exclusions, and special features.

Thus, we identified the main components of the bag builder:

Choice of bag base
Choice of size
Choice of logo
Choice of insert
Choice of strap
Choice of accessories

For each parameter, there are several options. For example, inserts are divided by fabric type, and there are also limited collections. Straps may come with or without accessory attachments, with letters or in solid colors, and there may even be a thin leather strap, but only for specific models and sizes.

Our team did an enormous amount of work. We made sure to immerse ourselves in the product and figure out which straps fit with which bags, what can be combined together, and what needs to be excluded. Sometimes new requirements came up during the process, which forced us to revise already-developed functionality. For instance, identical-sized and modeled bag bases may cost differently depending on the leather color. Or a limited edition logo might only be available for a specific bag color. But in the end, we created a convenient and functional builder!

New elements can be added in the website's admin section without the need to involve a programmer. The unified product database of the site and the builder allows easy management of availability and quick changes to the list of available bag components.

And of course, the main indicator of the product's success is the huge interest shown by ASK customers in this interactive builder. The builder mechanism helps customers choose exactly what they need, significantly increasing sales and minimizing returns, since the customer sees their bag before purchasing. Some users visit just for fun and end up making a purchase. Others, on the other hand, take their time, carefully assemble, change, add, and swap elements to be sure of their choice. But the most important thing is that for both groups—the builder turned out to be the ideal working solution. And for those still struggling to choose the perfect bag, we added a randomizer button to generate new combinations! :)
